Every year Danish Saxo Bank publishes a list of 10 predictions that follow 3 simple rules and that are based on the Black Swan Theory:
In this years list we see a prediction on Apple and Facebook:
“What do you do when you want domination of the electronic and mobile device consumer market and have no significant presence in social networking? Oh, and a war chest of a mere USD 51 billion? You buy Facebook, the mother lode of (yet to be monetized) social networks. Facebook is worth USD 43 billion, according to sharespost.com. In interviews, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has explained that Apple was in talks with Facebook about partnership opportunities, but that the talks ultimately produced nothing. Facebook was after “onerous terms that we could not agree to”, according to Jobs. At the Web 2.0 Summit Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg called for Apple to ease its approach to connecting Ping with Facebook, and said that Apple had to “get on the bus”. Steve Jobs might get on the bus indeed and buy Facebook outright. It makes perfect sense; Facebook doesn’t compete against Apple and it ‘faces up’ to Google, which Jobs loves since Google has become his new number one enemy. It’s a deal made in heaven… The gigantic 500+ million Facebook user base could be integrated across Apple’s consumer products and services – every Facebook user automatically has an iTunes Store account and FaceTime chat is integrated into Facebook chat. That’s a lot of iOS devices.”
Wow, that would be something. BTW this is not the only source talking about this possibility, TUAW did it, Macficionado also reported on this and Gizmodo reported on the dinner date of Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg at the beginning of October 2010.

I have just read this on the The Microsoft Office Blog by Office VP Takeshi Numoto:
“Facebook‘s new messaging platform integrates the Office Web Apps to enable Facebook users to view Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents with just one click. As you know, Office helps you create stunning documents that bring your ideas to life. Now you can easily share those ideas with your friends and family on Facebook. I’m really excited about being able to make it even easier for people to use Office to access and share information across different devices, networks and platforms. With the Office Web Apps on Facebook, you have even more ways to express yourself with Office and easily share your thoughts with people that are important to you.
When you receive a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document attachment in your Facebook message, click "View on Office.com" to view it in the browser in high fidelity via Office Web Apps or click "Download" to download the file to your computer (where you can open it in Office on your computer).”

Microsoft has rolled out numerous updates to its web services (see below for the news-links).
Office Web Apps is updated with new features such as embedding public documents in blogs and websites. You can expect automatic updates across the web of these publications, when the original file gets updated.
Think about this, I update my original document(s) and all of its ‘clones’, everywhere on the internet are updated automatically.
Example:
Windows Live announced an integration with LinkedIn, the social networking site for business profiles and connections. Contacts in Windows Live can be integrated with contacts in LinkedIn and properties of the contacts can be merged to create a “more complete” profile of your contacts. Also status updates will propagate into Live Messenger. Full federation will be rolled out over the next weeks.
Think about this; from a cultural point of view, all your business partners now will become your buddies, with instant updates on their status.
Facebook chatting will be integrated with Live Messenger. Not only for the desktop software (that was already a big success: Windows Live Messenger already ranks fourth in daily active users who connect to Facebook worldwide (source)), but now also for the web version of Live Messenger.
Think about this; Live Messenger is the worlds largest chat network and Facebook is the worlds largest social networking site.

On the Microsoft TechNet blogs, a blog posting by Oscar Maqueda gives a good and complete overview of all available BPOS resources. Oscar’s blog is in Spanish so most non-Spanish people will probably not normally end up there. For your convenience I have copied the English part of his list here.
